Half a million elderly Scots could miss out on an enhanced flu vaccine this winter because the SNP government left it too late to order supplies, Ruth Davidson has said.

The Scottish Tory leader said the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) agreed in November last year that the new aTIV flu vaccine should be given to all those aged over 65.

But she told MSPs that "botched" procurement by the SNP government meant only pensioners aged 75 and over are guaranteed to get the vaccine north of the Border.

Ms Davidson raised the case of a 72-year-old Perth pensioner who was forced to pay for the vaccine in Boots after being turned away from his GP.
